Privacy & cookie statement
Who processes your data?
This privacy and cookie statement explains how PHPfreelance.co.uk handles your data. I care about your privacy and collect as little data as possible. This website runs without tracking cookies and without advertising networks.
1. Data controller
The data controller for this website is Jeroen Derks, trading as PHPfreelance.co.uk.
Get in touch via the contact form.
2. Cookies
This website itself sets no tracking, advertising or analytics cookies, and no cookies are placed that follow you across websites (the visitor statistics use GoatCounter, which is cookieless). The site is, however, hosted on and protected by Cloudflare, which places a small number of strictly necessary security cookies, notably __cf_bm (bot management, valid for about 30 minutes) and cf_clearance (clearance for a passed challenge, including Cloudflare Turnstile). These are used solely for security and to prevent abuse. Under the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), such strictly necessary cookies are exempt from prior consent, so no cookie consent banner is required; they are disclosed here. More information can be found in Cloudflare's cookie policy.
3. Web statistics (GoatCounter)
For visitor statistics I use GoatCounter. GoatCounter is cookieless and privacy-friendly: no cookies are placed and no personal data that can be traced back to you is collected. No profile of you is built and data is not sold to third parties. The statistics only help me understand which pages are visited. See GoatCounter's privacy policy.
4. Spam protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)
The contact and quote forms are protected with Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-friendly alternative to CAPTCHA. Turnstile checks whether a submission comes from a human and not from an automated bot. For this, only technical data needed to prevent abuse and spam is processed. As part of this bot protection, Turnstile (a Cloudflare security service) may set a strictly necessary cookie as described in the Cookies section above.
5. Form data
When you fill in the contact or quote form, the data you provide is processed so that I can answer your message or request. The submission is handled by a Cloudflare Worker and delivered as email through the email service Resend. Alongside the data you provide, a few technical details are sent with the submission (such as your IP address and a rough location indication derived from it), solely for security and to detect spam. This technical data is not stored in a database; it is only visible in the notification email I receive.
6. Retention and your rights
I keep messages and requests no longer than necessary to handle your enquiry and to complete any follow-up contact. You have the right to access, correct and erase your data. To exercise these rights, get in touch via the contact form. For questions about this statement you can also reach me via the contact form.
